About Me…
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over twenty years experience working with families and children. Since 1997 I have provided personal nanny placement services to hundreds of parents in the San Francisco Bay Area. I’ve seen people at their best and at their worst. I am comfortable in high stress situations and maintain a sense of calmness and direction when all seems uncertain and important decisions need to be made.
My work with children has covered both individual clinical treatment of children in private practice and working with children in a classroom setting. I maintained a private practice for over six years, worked at the pre-school classroom at Mills College Children’s School, was an active Board member to design and setup a childcare center, co-authored a federally-funded study investigating how flight attendants manage work and family responsibilities and wrote numerous articles on parenting issues.
In 1997 a friend asked me to help her find a nanny. I thought "this is easy--I know about childcare!" It was a result of that experience that I created a specialty in helping parents through the process of choosing trustworthy nannies for their children. In addition to my personalized nanny placement services, I conduct workshops, present at mother’s groups and have authored the book, Finding a Nanny for Your Child in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Care by nanny is an unlicensed and unregulated market! Literally anyone can say they want to care for children. Along the way you will meet many excellent nannies. Along the way you may meet nannies that should never be caring for children. I use my experience, training and judgment to help us weed-out the worrisome from the good. I ask meaningful questions to help us know better who you would want to care for your children. We go through the process together to find your nanny of choice.
